We’re not much for running these days, but we can certainly at least cook up the delicious fuel that our runners do need to keep on breaking their pb’s! That is what our Hog Roast Grimethorpe team were doing last week as we were invited out to the inaugural run of the Quick Connect run club run (heh) by our long-time customer Amy. We were not invited to put on our own running shoes, however. No we were instead (thankfully) invited out just to cook up a delicious hog roast meal as a reward to the members for making it across their first finish line with the club, and for the club itself to celebrate their first event!
Amy has been a customer with Hog Roast Grimethorpe for close to five years. In 2020 during the midst of the pandemic she, like many of us, took up running to help her get out and moving more while we were all otherwise stuck indoors. She hit that runner high and has not looked back since. She joined a couple of running clubs but at the turn of the year she decided she wanted to start her own that would put more of an onus on connection rather than performance. Her new weekly running club, Quick Connect, is aimed at bringing local community together to be a little more active while socialising and enjoying the company of others. To help bring that along, her first event would have a very social activity after the run with dining courtesy of Hog Roast Grimethorpe.
The members ran a steady 5k with a break in the middle, and once they all reached the finish line they were greeted by our Hog Roast Grimethorpe team already awaiting them with a full hog roast buffet spread. There’s no better buffet than one right after a tiring run, so the members of course threw themselves in enjoying our delicious roast offerings and freshly made sides. Despite how tired they all were after their run, you wouldn’t know it with how fast everyone was moving to get their hands on a roast! Thankfully there was plenty to go around though – no more sprinting needed here when Hog Roast Grimethorpe are around!
We wish Amy and Quick Connect all the best with their future runs!
