One of the magical things about Christmas in Gilroyd is the Christmas markets that come every year. It’s great to be able to put on your hat and scarf and head out under the Christmas lights to peruse the stalls and enjoy plenty of bratwurst, glühwein, strudel and hot chocolate, but every year as the local market gets more and more popular it just gets busier and busier with the rush of visitors making the experience quite the crush. The prices seem to go up every year too to the point now that it can be a less enjoyable experience.
What if, then, there was a way to enjoy the magic and the foods of the Christmas markets without having to pay the hefty prices nor fight through the bustling crowds. What if there was a way to bring it all straight to you to enjoy amongst a more intimate group of friends and family members instead? That is what Hog Roast Gilroyd have been able to do this past week for one of our customers.
Sandra George used to absolutely adore the Christmas markets in Gilroyd as a young girl, but now her enjoyment of them has waned in the last few years with how expensive and busy they are. She of course still wanted to get a bit of the magical experience this year, however, she came up with a plan to make her own event for her friends and family that could call up the same Christmas spirit. To do so, she called dup Hog Roast Gilroyd to join her event with our festive menu.
To create the feeling of the markets our chefs set up our two roasters like stalls of their own so guests could line up for a turkey or hog roast roll with a choice of side accompaniments like roast potatoes and pigs in blankets, or come to our desserts table for mince pies with warm brandy cream. We also were able to serve hot chocolate and non-alcoholic mulled cider for the ultimate market experience, right at home!
It was an excellent idea and one that we at Hog Roast Gilroyd would love to do again!
